Motor-Operated Valve Technician - Level III (Valve and Actuator Repair Exp. Required)

John H. Carter Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced field and shop technician to disassemble, troubleshoot, repair and reassemble industrial process control valves, regulators, actuators and related equipment. The position requires a minimum of five years in a similar environment and a strong mechanical aptitude. Travel to customer sites is limited to approximately fifteen percent of the time.

Job Summary

Field based technician travels to processing plants and remote locations to troubleshoot and repair valve and regulator assemblies. Shop based technicians work on scheduled service orders at the company facility. Safety, documentation and team communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites with company supplied equipment; perform field service.
• Perform JSA "Job Safety Analysis" and site safety inspections.
• Assess condition, diagnose problems and execute repair on control and automated valve assemblies.
• Maintain accurate and timely communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Document work on the valve traveler and GVT and complete final inspection.
• Perform basic hand and measurement tool work and use of bench grinder, band saw and die grinder for component preparation.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment; availability for overtime, evenings and weekends.
• Mentor new technicians and assist in training.
• Work partner with development staff to stay current on product knowledge and safety training.

Experience & Qualifications

Detailed work experience includes : MSDS review, valve identification, GVT entry, electric actuator tear-down, pipe inspection, forklift use, API code application, final inspection and tagging. The technician demonstrates full knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of valve assemblies and related equipment in both field and shop environments.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

Typical duties require strong technical focus, stress tolerance, long work hours, training peers, communication with sales and service teams and continuous learning. Attendance and reliability are essential.
