Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC (PHM) is seeking a Senior Accountant to support core general accounting operations and assisting with escrow fund activity. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring continuity during a planned retirement transition.

The Senior Accountant will partner closely with leadership to execute day-to-day accounting responsibilities, document processes, and strengthen controls across the department.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Own day-to-day general accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and period-close support.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Provide support and backup for escrow fund activity, including assisting with reconciliations and monitoring balances.
• Partner with leadership to document accounting processes and support knowledge transfer during the transition period.
• Support internal and external audits, examinations, and control reviews.
• Serve as a reliable point of continuity across accounting operations.

Additional duties

• Perform other accounting and operational duties as assigned.
• Provide cross-functional support as needed to ensure continuity and controls.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Strong general accounting experience, including period-close responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in a regulated or high-volume environment preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Expertise in Encompass software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage time-sensitive tasks under pressure
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
