Lead Permit Specialist

Selectek is partnering with a firm in  Overland Park, Kansas  to hire a  Lead Permit Specialist  on a contract-to-direct basis. Candidates in this role will will be completing Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) permit application for city, county, state, pole, railroad, and others. This position will help to oversee and mentor more junior permit specialist on the team.ÂÂ

Employment Type : Contract-to-Direct Hire

Location : Overland Park, KS

Expected Pay Range : $27- $29 per hour before permanent conversion depending on experience and certification.

In addition to these requirements, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as Selectek is unable to provide sponsorship or work visa documentation.

Job Details :

•    Establish and sustain positive working relationships with jurisdictions, acting as the client’s main point of contactÂÂ

•    Perform jurisdictional and utility research, address municipal code and document requirements for other team members in tips and tricks file.ÂÂ

•    Effective knowledge and professional communication of the current permit status in emails and on calls.ÂÂ

•    Maintain research documentation for jurisdictions in the company’s database of record.ÂÂ

•    Compile, submit and retrieve permit packages either electronically or in person.ÂÂ

•    Travel to and effectively interact with the permitting authority to ensure timely receipt of approved permits.ÂÂ

•    Maintain engagement throughout the entire project cycle – start to successful completion.ÂÂ

•    Ensure all deliverables (prints and permits) are received and uploaded into the designated company database of record and our file system to keep a full and accurate record of permits.ÂÂ

•    Deliver accurate and complete permit packages (including permit, approved plan set and Traffic control) to customer, data storage or permit repository.ÂÂ

•    Using the company’s database of record, track the permit lifecycle from application to approval, expiration and renewal.ÂÂ

•    Submit and track power applications for any powered cabinet or Hut as required.ÂÂ

•    Maintain Accurate data within the database and on trackersÂÂ

•    Be available and able to fill in for your teammates in any marketÂÂ

•    Maintain and track Permitting deliverables within your market as well as reviewing all markets for due dates and deliverables.ÂÂ

•    Maintain accurate forecasts working with PM’s, actual timelines, and costs in our database of record.ÂÂ

•    Compile, submit and retrieve more difficult and multiple jurisdiction permits.ÂÂ

•    Submit and track Aerial applications including joint use and Make Ready notifications as needed.ÂÂ

•    Keep market tips and tricks updated. Enlist assistance from your permitting teammates for other markets.ÂÂ

•    Additional activities related to jurisdictional requirements, permit tracking and reporting.ÂÂ

•    Training of new team members as needed.ÂÂ

•    Ability to move between all markets seamlessly to assist in covering vacations and fill in.ÂÂ

•    Begin to act as subject matter expert in areas you have been trained in or experience you have.ÂÂ

•    Practice speaking up on calls and providing accurate and concise clear information.ÂÂ

•    Review, track and report all Permitting deliverables for all markets each week.ÂÂ

•    Review Database reports for Accuracy- Send any QC notices and validate issues identified are corrected.ÂÂ

•    Create and maintain training documents for permitting team.ÂÂ

•    Attend planning meetings to keep all Permitting activities on schedule.ÂÂ

•    Communicate with Permitting team- schedules and urgent requests and process changes.ÂÂ

•    Update and coordinate Jurisdictional research to manage completion with upcoming projects.ÂÂ

•    Subject matter expert for Permitting team. Assist with any questions from Drafting or Permitting teams.ÂÂ

•    Train Specialist II candidates to pass along department knowledgeÂÂ

•    Be available and able to answer questions and communicate with Directors, VP’s and all upper management as needed.ÂÂ

•    Watch Market Volume to determine if any markets will need to be reassigned due to volumeÂÂ

•    May be required to participate in selection and interviewing of new candidatesÂÂ

•    Learn and engage in the invoicing process to communicate milestones to PermittingÂÂ

•    Participate in Database improvement by providing permitting input and perspectiveÂÂ

•    Establish working dashboards to assist teammates in efficienciesÂÂ

Required : ÂÂ

•    High School Diploma or Equivalent ÂÂ

•    5 plus year of Permitting experience completing Authority Having Jurisdiction permit applications.ÂÂ

•    Previous telecommunication or utility permitting experienceÂÂ

•    Experience leading and mentoring more junior permit team membersÂÂ

•    Valid driver's license & transportationÂÂ
