Executive Underwriter - E&S Excess Casualty

Zurich is seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter – Excess Casualty to join our E&S team. The position is based in Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX, or Houston, TX and can be performed on a hybrid basis.

Job Summary

The Executive Underwriter will underwrite new and renewal excess casualty business, manage existing accounts and drive profitability for our national and wholesale channels. You will partner with managers to set a flexible work schedule, meet with agents and brokers, and develop exceptional relationships across the marketplace.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek new account opportunities and manage existing renewal accounts.
• Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in underwriting excess casualty lines of business.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Contribute to the development and completion of proposals.
• Qualify accounts that meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
• Make agent / broker / customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
• Negotiate terms and conditions and close deals.
• Cross‑sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
• Participate in sales team meetings as related to assigned brokers and / or territory.
• Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
• Develop strong broker and client networks in industries underwritten by the business unit.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles; OR

High school diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; OR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate degree and 3+ years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles; OR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate degree and 8+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; AND

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation

Base salary range : $98,500 – $165,000. Short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
