The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a skilled and experienced Pharmacy Manager to lead and oversee pharmacy operations at the Norfolk Regional Center (NRC)—a state psychiatric hospital providing inpatient services for individuals requiring specialized behavioral health care.
About the Role
As the Pharmacy Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient use of medications that support our patients’ health and recovery. You’ll provide professional and managerial leadership to the pharmacy team while maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage a comprehensive institutional pharmacy program that supports patient care and facility operations.
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate professional pharmacists and support staff, ensuring a high standard of service and continuous professional development.
- Oversee drug procurement, inventory control, security, and disposal while maintaining accurate records.
- Dispense medications, compound prescriptions, and verify orders to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
- Provide consultation to physicians, nurses, and treatment teams on drug therapy, interactions, and dosage.
- Manage the pharmacy budget, monitor expenditures, and forecast operational needs.
- Serve as the pharmacy’s representative on facility committees and collaborate across departments to enhance patient care.
- Stay current with developments in pharmacology and hospital pharmacy practice to ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification : Registered Pharmacist or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, Licensed in Nebraska as a pharmacist.Preferred Qualifications : Experience providing pharmacy services to long-term care or behavioral health facilities. Previous leadership experience and organizational skills, with the ability to direct and evaluate a professional pharmacy team. Proficiency in computer-based pharmacy systems and inventory management.Pay range and compensation package
