Responsibilities Work in an acute hospital setting on a combined Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother / Baby unit Unit includes 8 L&D beds with 6 overflow, 7 triage beds, and 40 postpartum beds Patient population includes mothers and newborns, antepartum, GYN, multiples, high-risk deliveries, and VBACs Average annual births range from 1800 to 2000 Labor and delivery nurse-to-patient ratios : 1 : 2 labor, 1 : 1 delivery, 1 : 3 triage; Mother / Baby and postpartum : 1 : 4 couplets Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Heart Monitoring systems; experience required 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required Floating required to postpartum as assigned C-section circulation required Charge nurse may also take patient assignments OB techs support L&D care and C-sections Scrubs provided for L&D; navy required for Mother / Baby and postpartum Responsible for providing nursing care to mothers and newborns across all phases of labor, delivery, and postpartum Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including 24 / 7 in-house laborist, anesthesiologist, and neonatologist OB / Neonatologist and RT are present for deliveries and C-sections Holiday coverage rotates with core staff 1-2 shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor provided Expected to circulate during C-sections and assist with high-risk deliveries and multiple births Tele monitoring may be used on mothers but RN is not responsible for interpreting strips Baby-friendly unit focused on family-centered care First to float among team members as needed Requirements Active CA RN license in hand at time of application Minimum of 2 years RN experience, including recent labor & delivery and postpartum Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certifications required; all must be from AHA where specified Experience circulating C-sections required Cerner EMR and fetal heart monitoring experience required Must be able to provide 2 professional references, including one supervisor within the past 12 months Copy of current driver’s license required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623183.
