1. General job duties. Types of procedures required. Bedside staff RN with ability to manage Medsurg patients of all ages. 2. Equipment utilized in the unit / dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) Alaris IV pump. Hill-rom beds and call system. Kangaroo pumps, quadramed pyxis. 3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. Minimum 2 years Medsurg experience 4. Specific licensures and certifications / registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) BLS required, PALS required. 5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) On call may be necessary for low census. weekends required. Traveler can't expect block or set schedule, need to help fill the gaps on the schedule. 6. Floating to other units / departments. (If so, to which units / departments?) ER, post partum and stepdown. No patient load, just assisting 7. Bed size / number of rooms for this unit / dept. 20 rooms with 35 beds 8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) 1 : 5 occasionally but 1 : 6 if emergent surgeries 9. Dress Code : no specific color 10. Tell us about the unit / department specific training and orientation program. HR and education day 1. restraint training day 2. Shadow 1 shift then work after that.
