Since 1985, BHCHP's mission has been to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community's most vulnerableand most resilientcitizens. Job Summary

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is looking to hire a Pharmacy Director who is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy services within the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for strategic planning, regulatory compliance, staff management, budgeting, and ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medications. As the Pharmacy Director you will collaborate with medical staff, administrative leadership, and external partners to optimize pharmaceutical care, improve patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of pharmaceutical care.

Responsibilities

• Manage pharmacy stock / supplies
• Assures availability, preparation, appropriate storage and control of medications
• Submits timely orders to vendors with attention to minimizing surcharges for excessive emergency deliveries
• Assure accurate medication dispensation
• Institutes and follows quality assurance protocols
• Performs regular audits to assess dispensation accuracy
• Thoroughly evaluates discrepancies to determine their source and institutes correction plan
• Submits to all quality assurance and quality improvement activities
• Assure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations
• Assure accurate billing and accounting
• Assure compliance with 340B pricing agreements
• Participate in pharmacy development
• Verify patient understanding of instructions
• Educate prescribers
• Within operations of the pharmacy, maximize use of free medication programs
• Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with healthcare regulations and best practices
• Participate in continuing education programs to meet licensing, funding, or regulatory requirements
• Develop and implement strategic plans for pharmacy services aligned with organizational goals
• Lead, mentor, and manage Pharmacist Supervisor and Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and support personnel as needed. This includes hiring, training, performance evaluations, and professional development
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and patient-centered care
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations including inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., DEA, FDA, Board of Pharmacy)
• Oversee inventory management, procurement, and formulary development to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness of medications
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to support evidence-based prescribing and medication therapy management
• Monitor and improve medication safety practices, adverse drug event reporting, and quality assurance and antimicrobial stewardship programs
• Lead initiatives to reduce medication errors and enhance patient education
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, including forecasting and cost analysis
• Negotiate contracts with pharmaceutical vendors and service providers
• Analyze pharmacy utilization data to identify trends and opportunities for savings
• Oversee implementation and optimization of pharmacy information systems and automation tools
• Stay current with emerging pharmaceutical technologies and integrate best practices
• Participate in program-wide committees related to patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical governance
