About the program :
The Scripps Sterile Processing Technician Transition Program is a 6-month program that includes course work and hands-on training based on the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) modules. At the end of the program, the trainee will be ready to take the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam. Positions at the end of the program will be full-time positions within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD).
A Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for sterilizing instrumentation and equipment through a series of critical steps. This work ensures that patients avoid infections and that doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals can access the instrumentation and equipment they need immediately.

Trainees are paid a flat hourly rate during the program and are promoted after successful completion of the program and obtainment of CRCST certification.The flat rate of pay for trainees in the February 2026 SPD Transition Program will be $24.50 / hr.
