Associate Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting
The Associate Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting is responsible for researching, interpreting, and documenting complex accounting issues, while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. This role includes leading the development of accounting policies, monitoring new regulatory standards, and driving the implementation of emerging accounting guidance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical accounting research and prepare position papers on complex topics such as revenue recognition, collaboration arrangements, consolidation, business combinations, and impairment testing.
- Develop, maintain, and update corporate accounting policies in accordance with evolving standards.
- Partner with business development teams to evaluate proposed transactions and assess their accounting and financial reporting implications.
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements, prepare executive summaries, and lead implementation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper adoption of new standards and accurate reporting outcomes.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors on all technical accounting matters.
- Supervise and mentor team members, supporting professional development and technical skill growth.
- Lead or contribute to special accounting and reporting projects as needed.
Knowledge and Skills
Deep and current understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.Strong analytical and technical writing skills with attention to detail.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.Experience in implementing new accounting standards and process improvements.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.Typically 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, ideally within a Big 4 public accounting firm and / or a public company environment.Seniority Level
