Job description

Overview

The IT Administrator / Desktop Support is responsible for managing day-to-day IT operations, providing technical support to end-users, maintaining hardware and software systems, and ensuring network and systems security. This role serves as the first point of contact for internal users and plays a critical role in uptime, cybersecurity, and tech resource optimization.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 support for hardware, software, and user access issues
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, access points and other devices
  • Help maintain and update user accounts
  • Perform routine system updates and antivirus checks under supervision
  • Support video conferencing tools and basic network troubleshooting
  • Track and help maintain inventory of IT equipment and software licenses
  • Document solutions to common issues for the internal knowledge base
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding by setting up user accounts, email, and equipment
  • Follow security guidelines for password resets, device encryption, and data protection
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff

Desired Skills / Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and basic networking concepts
  • Willingness to learn scripting, automation, and device management tools
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with non-technical users
  • Customer service mindset and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Education And Experience

  • Associate's degree in information technology or related field, OR 1–2 years of IT / help desk experience
  • Preferred but not required : CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or other relevant IT certifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, basic PowerShell commands, or device imaging is a plus
  • Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds for handling some hardware installations.
