Senior Project Superintendent Commercial
At XL Construction, the Senior Project Superintendent Commercial is a key field leader responsible for the safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of large-scale or complex commercial construction projects. Partnering closely with the Project Manager, this role oversees field operations from preconstruction through completion, driving excellence in safety, schedule, quality, and team development.
This individual brings a minimum of 10 years of progressive field leadership experienceparticularly within the Bay Area commercial marketand a deep understanding of construction logistics, coordination, and mentorship. The Senior Superintendent is also a key contributor to maintaining strong client and trade partner relationships while promoting XLs culture, standards, and commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead day-to-day field operations with a focus on schedule, safety, quality, and logistics
- Develop and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6, including monthly and weekly look-ahead planning
- Coordinate field activities, including self-performed work (SPW) and all trade scopes
- Partner with clients, designers, and stakeholders to resolve design and constructability challenges
- Lead pre-task planning, daily milestone identification, and crew alignment
- Manage field staffing plans and align resources with production and project goals
- Facilitate jobsite meetings including trade huddles, OACs, and site walks
- Support project pursuits with input on logistics, constructability, and schedule strategy
- Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and field crews
- Promote XLs safety culture and maintain the highest level of jobsite safety compliance
- Build a strong, positive field culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and results
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred)10+ years of field leadership experience, including large-scale commercial constructionDemonstrated success managing ground-up projects from preconstruction to closeoutStrong expertise in MEP coordination, permitting, and trade sequencingAdvanced scheduling skills using Primavera P6Experience managing self-performed work and field laborExcellent communication and collaboration skillsMarket and safety certifications as appropriate (e.g., OSHA 30, CPR / First Aid)Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and foster a collaborative field cultureCompensation & Benefits :
In accordance with Californias pay transparency requirements, the base salary range for this position is $200,000 $215,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
