The Energy Mix is pleased and grateful to be recruiting for year two of the Stephen Lewis Climate Journalism Fellowship!

It’s open to students, recent graduates, and individuals who are excellent newswriters and looking to apply their craft to one of the most urgent crises — and one of the biggest opportunities for social and economic transformation — that we’ll see in our lifetimes.

The fellowship is named for Stephen Lewis, the philanthropist, diplomat, politician, journalist, labour arbitrator, and former Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations who hosted the world’s first international climate change conference, the Toronto Conference on the Changing Atmosphere, in 1988. It’s made possible by a generous donation we received in honour of Lewis’ many achievements, recognizing his leadership, passion, and lifelong humanitarianism.

The Basics

• 12- to 15-week position beginning January 2026
• Remote position with regular team check-ins and supervision
• 15 to 18.75 hours per week
• Pay rate of $22.50 per hour
• Duties will expand in the course of the fellowship from desk rewrites, to compiled stories, to original newswriting.
