The institution serves as a regional referral center with specialized pediatric care. The unit has 9 beds and maintains a patient ratio of 1 RN to 1-2 patients in the PICU. Staffing includes a Health Unit Coordinator and shared technician support. Key equipment includes Alaris pumps, and documentation is done through a recognized electronic system. Scheduling requires working 3 weekends in a 6-week cycle. Floating may occur to different pediatric units as necessary. Advanced skills may be needed for procedures including IV starts, central line dressing changes, and ventilator management. The dress code consists of a uniform in navy blue or white.
