Construction Inspector

We are seeking a Construction Inspector / Observer to provide oversight of contractor activities on projects in Central Ohio. This role requires ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes for the construction of streets, stormwater systems, sanitary sewers, and waterlines. While prior inspection experience is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement and the role can be trained. However, applicants must possess prior construction experience or knowledge, such as the ability to read / interpret construction drawings and communicate with contractors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of construction activities related to streets, stormwater drainage, sanitary sewer systems, and waterline installations.
• Monitor contractor work for compliance with engineering plans, specifications, and regulatory standards.
• Verify proper materials, installation techniques, and workmanship.
• Maintain detailed field notes, inspection logs, and photographic records.
• Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports summarizing progress, issues, and corrective actions.
• Communicate findings to project managers, engineers, and contractors.

Work Environment

The Construction Inspector will primarily work on job sites, specifically on a subdivision construction project near Lithopolis, OH. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
