MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN / CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (MLT / CLT)
Certified Medical Laboratory Technicians / Clinical Laboratory Technicians (MLT / CLT) will provide diagnostic testing services to The Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Temple, Texas.
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of professional Medical Laboratory Technician principles, practices, concepts, and theories providing for sound independent work. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory quality control, quality assurance procedures, and principles of performance improvement providing for sound independent work.

The Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician / Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT / CLT) to provide diagnostic testing services.
Specific Requirements
- Medical Laboratory Technician / Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT / CLT) :
- Technician must have a 2-year Associates in Applied Science Degree
- Technician must have a minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience
- Technician must be American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or American Medical Technologists (AMT) certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician / Clinical Laboratory Technician.
Compensation
$27.72 per hour plus an additional $4.57 per hour for Health and Welfare
Responsibilities
Is expected to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory resultsWill perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and resultsRequires a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervisionWill be required to monitor quality control systems and measuresRequires the ability to interpret and apply complex written instructionsMust utilize basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and be able to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentationMay need to resolve problems encountered in the laboratoryMust be able to communicate, consult, and interact with other members of the healthcare team, external relations, customer service, and patient educationDuties Include But Are Not Limited To
Will perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex laboratory procedures. Must be able to recognize deviation from expected results and use scientific principles to analyze and correct problemsEvaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis accounting for physiologic processes and requirementsMaintain and document the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment. Use, calibrate, and identify malfunctions; repair and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipmentTroubleshoot issues with laboratory instruments and resolve problems. Diagnose deviations in test performance due to instrument malfunctionPerform and document quality control and quality assurance activities and corrective actions related to test performance using statistical principles and theories of performance improvementIdentify discrepancies, solve problems, and present solutionsAnswer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity, test sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results. Interpret results and suggest followup test selection or proceduresMust meet all acceptable quality and productivity standards as defined by Chief, PandLMS or designeeOther duties as assignedExperience On The Following Analyzers Is Preferred
