Program And Project Specialist
The Iowa Secretary of State is hiring a Program And Project Specialist (Administrative Assistant 2) to help plan and implement outreach programs and projects.
The Secretary of State has outlined three broad goals :
- Increasing voter registration and participation
- Increasing voter integrity
- Improving business services through excellent customer service and taking advantage of technology
This position will perform administrative program work by planning and implementing specific outreach programs and projects to reach goals and increase participation from a wide variety of groups across the state.
This job will be an in-office position, 8 : 00 A.M. - 4 : 30 P.M., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of some occasional weekend work.
Responsibilities :
Planning. Develop programs, conduct research, write project initial plan, and presents recommendations on implementation to leadership.Organizing. Serves in an outreach capacity initiating contact with constituents, stakeholders, civic organizations, businesses, foundations and educational institutions.Executing. Executes outreach program through all phases of its lifecycle. Responsible for follow up activities, develops detailed processes, procedures, timelines, goals, objectives and budget information.Monitoring. Monitor and report on how program is meeting goals, objectives and solve problems related to implementation.Communicating. Work with communications team to develop and deliver strategic messaging to stakeholders and the public.Traveling. Travels throughout Iowa meeting with constituents and stakeholders to implement and promote the projects.Position is expected to be in-person only.
Salary is expected to be near the base of the pay range.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification :
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support (e.g., screening visitors and callers; opening / distributing mail, typing / proofing documents, letters, and reports; organizing files; scheduling meetings / appointments; arranging travel; processing travel claims; ordering supplies / equipment) or technical support work (e.g., determining budget, personnel, and equipment needs; compiling / evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial or technical program data; interpreting or securing compliance with laws, rules and regulations; reviewing operating records / reports and evaluating their effectiveness).A total of five years of education and / or full-time experience (as described in number one) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as an Administrative Assistant 1.Why Choose the State of Iowa?
