Junior Real-Time Trader (Austin, TX)

We're seeking a Junior Real-Time Trader to join our clients dynamic team in Austin, TX. You’ll be working on optimizing physical and financial trading positions within the Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets, particularly for battery storage, wind, and solar assets.
This is an exciting opportunity to build your expertise in trading strategies and market analysis while playing a key role in maximizing value for clients.
Key Responsibilities :
- Optimizing trading positions for battery storage, wind, and solar assets within day-ahead and real-time markets.
- Conducting market analysis to assess near-term supply and demand dynamics, competitor strategies, and transmission constraints.
- Scoping and developing internal tools and processes to enhance scalability and business success.
- Supporting asset onboarding, ISO monitoring, and documentation requests.
- Participating in shift desk rotations, including weekends and overnight shifts, to manage real-time market opportunities and risks.
Must-Have Skills :
- Strong interest or experience in short-term power trading, with a focus on managing the dispatch of physical assets.
- Attention to detail and adherence to ERCOT business practices, nodal protocols, and NERC operating guidelines.
- Ability to communicate complex issues effectively and prioritize workload in a time-sensitive environment.
- Flexibility to participate in shift rotations (weekends and overnight).
Nice-to-Have Skills :
- Knowledge of the ERCOT market’s operations, rules, and key players.
- Experience managing battery storage, wind, or solar technologies in competitive power markets.
- Familiarity with real-time power and ancillary services market price drivers.
- Experience with Python (Pandas), SQL databases, and post-trade analytics.
