Associate Director, Contracts Leadership Role

The Strategic Alignment (SA) team, as part of the Alignment, Contracts, and Supply Chain Legal (AXL) organization, is a crucial business partner for integration / alignment in strategies, processes, and execution of contracts for our customer's most critical programs. We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director, Contracts leadership role supporting our Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This position will offer an opportunity to expand your breadth of experience in Contracts and Supply Chain, while engaging across multiple programs on broad, complex, and strategic challenges to meet our business objectives.

Responsibilities to Anticipate :

Establish trusting relationships and engage directly with Contracts Managers and Material Program Managers to improve alignment between our prime contract and supply chain.

Advise on prime contract Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) and / or on subcontract T&Cs by understanding the business impact of misaligned terms.

Help drive contracts symmetry though the value chain by aligning terms, conditions, and requirements with customers through to suppliers.

Effectively communicate with internal and external senior level customers to establish mutually beneficial relationships, resolve complex and multi-faceted problems, and influence business decisions.

Play an essential role in Request for Proposal (RFP), capture and proposal strategy, and negotiation objectives and strategies, seeking alignment of supplier subcontracts with prime contract requirements in all phases of the pursuit.

Align program objectives and Strategic Business Unit business goals through the utilization of early engagement business process tools such as :

  • Creation of applicable Economic Price Adjustment (EPA) clauses for utilization throughout the value stream;

Risk assessment and mitigation strategies for both capture and execution phases of key programs; and

Pursuing Better Business Deals through enhanced negotiation alignment for strategic pursuits.

Qualifications You Must Have :

Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years' experience

Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) and experience with one or more of the following : Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), Foreign Military Sales (FMS), International Direct Commercial Sales, and / or supplier agreements closely aligned with prime contract terms and duration

Qualifications We Value :

Excellent collaboration and leadership abilities, with demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and develop effective relationships based on respect and trust

Ability to understand complex terms and conditions, including the ability to assess associated risk, develop mitigation strategies and draft contractual language

Experience managing contracts and aligning supplier performance requirements to meet prime contract requirements under production, development, or support contracts

Knowledge of different contractual arrangements such as FFP, FPIF, CPFF, CPIF, T&M, and LOE

Working knowledge of Intellectual Property (IP) rights and how to properly protect IP

Ability to understand the financial and material aspects of contracts and risk quantification

Effective communicator both orally and in writing; strong analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills; and capable of multi-tasking and handling several assignments concurrently
