Job description

About the team

The Safety Regulatory Compliance Operations (SRCO) Team for TikTok USDS is a multi-disciplinary team that handles risk detection, prevention and handling in the United States. The team is dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure online environment for users by actively monitoring and responding to emergent threats, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, and address real-life implications of online content. As a member of SRCO's US Legal Policy Operations team, you will be integral in ensuring that TikTok is a safe and trustworthy place for our community. Our team is a specialized group covering Privacy, Intellectual Property & Identity, Legal Response, and Investigations. Within and across each vertical, we work together to develop efficient workflows and thoughtful policies that mitigate legal risk. We are here to ensure a scalable model to meet what the law requires in an operationally feasible way while protecting user rights. We support our Trust and Safety organization, and wider company colleagues ensure that we are sustaining an equitable platform that inspires creativity across all markets. On the Civil Response Team, you will be a part of the larger Legal Response Team (LRT) within LPO and responsible for handling civil requests primarily from non-government entities. Through close partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders, to include Legal, Policy, and Product & Process teams, you will be responsible for handling time sensitive escalations sometimes involving high profile cases and creators. This highly motivating and impactful work gives you the opportunity to work with global cross-functional colleagues to frame our legal policies and operational procedures for TikTok. Our team performs a critical function that supports our efforts to address objectionable or disturbing content. Content that this team interacts with includes images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; and murder. It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content on a daily basis. This position will be full-time and will include a regular rotation of 1 weekend day as part of the work week. In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager / department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time. Responsibilities

  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure effective compliance with requests and to scale team and company growth.
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional internal stakeholders
  • Gather and analyze relevant data to ensure effective compliance with requests and scale with team and company growth across US and regional markets.
  • Create and articulate written and / or verbal responses to questions from private or defense attorneys, regulatory agencies, and other government entities seeking user for civil investigations in addition to internal teams regarding Civil Response scope, policy, and process.
  • Draft internal documentation, workflows and procedures concerning safety and data disclosure.
