Material Handler 1st Shift
The Material Handler - Shipping picks and processes customer orders and distribution centers accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for processing customer orders and filling distribution centers
Compiles, organizes, and prepares all orders as directed from the Shipping Supervisor
Operates a handheld scanner to scan barcodes and delivers materials to their target location
Operates forklift, lift truck, side loaders, pallet trucks, picker and other loading / stacking equipment
Responsible daily inspection of forklifts
Performs on-spot checking
Maintains and organizes warehouse storage including pallet consolidation and cleanliness of aisles
Promote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe condition or practice to your supervisor.
Performs other duties as directed
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Knowledge of company products in terms of part numbers and product descriptions
Well-versed in warehouse, shipping, and receiving functions
Ability to safely drive a forklift and picker
Familiar with shipping methods such as Fed Ex, UPS, or freight truck
Knowledge of operating lift trucks, side loaders, pallet trucks, and other loading / stacking equipment
Solid understanding of mathematics
Proficient in the Warehouse Management System
Outstanding organization and documentation skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Prioritize and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possesses a strong commitment to team environment while working well with others
