- Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? 1.5 years minimal, prefers more
- Will you accept a first-time traveler? No, unless significant SPD experience (NEEDS MANAGER APPROVAL)
- Skills Required :
- Processes and maintains proper care of all surgical instruments and equipment, scopes and powered surgical instruments which includes inspection, evaluation of proper function, cleaning disinfecting and sterilization. Maintains quality control and documentation records of the sterilization process. Distributes designated supplies and equipment to all areas of the medical center.
- Wide variety of instruments for service lines such as : orthopedics, ophthalmology, neuro, plastics, ENT, urology, cardiothoracic, vascular, GYN, robotics, and general. ( REQUIRED)
- We do steam sterilization, low temp (Vrpo) sterilization and we have a medivator mainly for TEE probes. We do not clean GI scopes at this time.
- Assembly, sterilization, wrapping, decontamination, instrument inspection, high level disinfection
- SPM Tracking - if candidate does not have experience with this, please decline
- Floating :
- Will routinely float between decontamination, assembly, and sterilization.
- Will routinely float between two sterile processing departments within the same building
- Required Licensure & Certifications :
- CRCST Or CBSPD
- Support on the Unit :
- Sterile Processing Tech that serves as a resource to others on the shift. They will be working very independently. As in they may be the only person in decontamination, Assembly or doing sterilization.
- Technology / Equipment :
- Tracking system for sterilization : SPM Tracking (REQUIRED) - if candidate does not have SPM experience, please decline
