Job Title : Quality Engineer

Department : Engineering

Reports To : Quality Assurance Manager

Supervises : N / A

Summary : Monitor and audit the quality of all manufactured products. Responsible for making sure that engineering and manufacturing processes are performed correctly using the right tools, materials and processes. Design the company's quality standards and testing processes against engineering criteria. Monitors employee training to make sure the right quality and safety standards are met throughout the production process. Document problems and work with others to find solutions. Ensure customer requirements are met as well as legal and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned :

  • Functions as quality control engineering, in such areas as design, raw material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, research and development.
  • Develops and initiates standards, methods and techniques for inspections, non-destructive inspections, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical, or mechanical.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality at assigned work location
  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data
  • Develop tools to track internal product and process non-conformance that affect product quality and throughput.
  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Perform internal and external audits as part of the corrective and preventive action system.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.

Competencies : To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies :

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a multi-disciplined organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings including GD&T and AWS.
  • Minimum two years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of measurement tools; calipers, micrometers, hardness and coating thickness gauges, thread plug and ring gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software components.
  • Basic working knowledge of ISO standards and requirements.
  • A strong team player with a "can do" attitude and commitment to get the job done.
  • Ability to apply advanced math calculations and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing related to product dimensions and recorded test data.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Education and / or Experience :

    Required :

  • 5-7 years Technical and / or Manufacturing experience with a manufacturing company
  • Associates degree in quality, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
  • Industry knowledge in metal processing, test equipment and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to problem solve while interacting with Engineering and a Cross-functional development team.
  • Proficiency in Coordinate Measuring Machine programing, measurements and analysis.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new operating systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with reading technical specifications and / or engineering and architectural drawings is preferred.

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; move around the plant, including climbing stairs or ladders; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The associate may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The associate must regularly lift and / or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment : Primary duties will be performed in the production area. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, in office setting, to loud in production area. Ear protection is required in some areas. While performing the duties of this job in the production area, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Production area is not climate-controlled. Personal Protective Equipment may be required.

    Position Type / Expected Hours of Work : Full-Time. Work Schedule : Monday through Thursday, 6 : 00AM - 5 : 00PM. Hours are subject to change at any time. Overtime may be required.

    Travel : No travel is expected for this position.

    Safety Sensitive Position : This position is a safety-sensitive position as defined in the Pelco Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy and 63 Okla. Stat. § 427.8(K)(1)
