Overview WEB DEVELOPER (REMOTE / USA) - GDM (Gray Media Group) is a remote position within Gray Digital Media, a corporate division of Gray Media responsible for all things digital. The Digital Development team builds websites, mobile / CTV apps, and tools that provide users with local news, video, weather, and more from local news stations across the country.
Job Summary / Description Gray Media is seeking a talented Web Developer to join our Digital team and help shape the future of local news online. You will design, build, and maintain highly dynamic websites for all Gray Media news stations using our React-based content management system. Our websites deliver up-to-date local news, video, weather, and more to millions of users across the country, and you will play a crucial role in enhancing the way audiences experience this content.
This is a remote position.
Duties / Responsibilities Collaborate with our Digital team to design, build, and maintain front-end features within our content management system (CMS).
Develop and manage CMS workflows and back-end functionality supporting hundreds of websites.
Create and maintain data feeds using formats such as RSS and JSON to support integrations across platforms.
Implement features and services by integrating with REST-based APIs.
Provide internal support and guidance for CMS users to ensure smooth publishing operations.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and best practices to incorporate them into our development process.
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning sessions to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6 and beyond).
Proficiency with React.js and experience using state management libraries such as Redux, MobX, or React's Context API.
Hands-on experience with version control in a collaborative environment, preferably Git.
Familiarity with build tools and bundlers such as Webpack.
Solid foundation in web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript.
Preferred Experience Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Mocha, Karma, Jest, or Chai.
Experience with frameworks and libraries such as Bootstrap, SASS / SCSS / LESS, Node.js, and / or PHP.
Familiarity with HTTP request tools such as Axios, SuperAgent, or the native Fetch API.
Comfort using command-line tools for development and troubleshooting.
Understanding of performance monitoring and optimization tools such as Lighthouse and browser developer tools.
