Spine Patient Care Unit Assistant

This position is located at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and is part of a team that provides care in the Spine Patient Care Unit. The shift is permanent nights, with an 8-hour shift length and every other weekend rotation. The full-time equivalent (FTE) is 0.6. The position requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the delivery of patient care, performing personal care tasks such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and grooming patients, and collecting and documenting vital signs and other observations. The role also involves contributing to a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees, and handling hazardous waste according to safety protocols.
Required qualifications include being at least 18 years of age or 17 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, candidates must have completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, completed one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program, completed the Allina Health Nursing Assistant Academy Program, or have previous direct patient care experience. Current BLS certification is required from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or through Allina in-house training.
Physical demands include lifting weights up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently. The pay range for this position is $20.71 to $26.97 per hour, with potential for shift, weekend, and other differentials.
