Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position in a Multi Care Unit, requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and strong ICU / PCU skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 10-bed Multi Care Unit (MCU) with combined ICU, PCU, and MST patient populationsAcute care hospital environment with all acuity levels managed on a single unitNurse-to-patient ratios depend on acuity : ICU 1 : 2, PCU 1 : 4, MST 1 : 5-6, or 1 : 3 if no nurse aide is availableCommon cases include sepsis, substance withdrawal, respiratory failure, DKA, post-op complications, and cardiac / pressure abnormalitiesRN is required to titrate sedation, vasopressors, and insulin dripsVentilators, BiPAP, and CPAP used on the unit with RT supportUses Cerner EMR12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required (Friday / Saturday for nights)Holiday rotation for fair coverageFirst to float policy, with floating within campus and to sister units including ICU / PCU and adult cases in peds unit, and to West Campus in Prescott with two-hour noticeStaff may be placed on standby if census is lowRNs are responsible for managing ICU, PCU, and MST patients in a single adaptable unitCharge RN supports overall unit operationsRemote Monitor Techs assist with telemetry monitoring for PCU and MST patientsMust wear any scrub color except camouflageUnit and hospital orientation providedHoliday coverage required as part of a rotationCandidates who fail the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam on the second attempt are ineligible for 6 months at this systemRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of applicationMinimum 2 years of ICU experience required; will consider 1 year ICU and 1 year PCU / Med Surg in larger hospitals with strong skillsCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam with 80% within two attempts prior to hireAbility to monitor and interpret 12-lead EKGs and cardiac rhythmsMust be able to titrate critical care drips including sedation and vasopressorsMust not have been employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI and Dignity) in the past 12 monthsPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facilityValid driver's license requiredTwo references required : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past three yearsBenefits
