Field Service Technician

Summary :

A field service technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, and

heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. They travel to customer sites to

diagnose issues, perform repairs, and conduct routine maintenance. Their role requires strong

technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently in various

environments. Safety and efficiency are paramount as they handle complex machinery and ensure

minimal downtime for customers. Excellent communication skills are also essential for interacting

with clients and providing detailed reports on the work performed

Essential Duties :

  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership

and factory standards.

  • Diagnoses the cause of most malfunctions and perform repairs according to OEM guidelines.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts.
  • Save and tag parts for warranty purposes or at the customer's request.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is needed or
  • recommended.

  • Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if outlined
  • work is not required, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.

  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Supervise the work of any assigned apprentice technicians.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely.
  • Attend and complete all assigned company training.
  • Maintain and efficiency of 90% or higher
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications :

  • Degree or Certification from an accredited post-secondary School plus 2+ years of related
  • experience and / or training.

  • OEM Certifications Preferred
  • Must obtain a Valid Driver's License and have the ability to pass our insurance requirements
  • Must have the ability to work an "On-Call" schedule
  • Must own most basic tools and some specialty tools
  • Work Environment :

    This position is often exposed to the elements and moving machinery and equipment. It is also often

    exposed to grease, electrical currents, dust, dirt and other environmental factors. This position

    requires the operation of a Field Service Truck, this truck is equipped with Front and Rear Camera

    Systems as well as a GPS Tracking System.

    This position also requires traveling around to different areas as needed to get to and from the

    different customer and branch locations. This position will require work before and after hours,

    and in some cases, a significant amount of Over Time.
