As a Domestic Service Worker, you will work independently or in small groups, to perform general maintenance to ensure the environment assigned is sanitized to the highest standard of cleanliness. You will maintain the cleanliness and order of assigned areas in residential buildings using equipment, chemicals and cleaning solvents.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations Include The Following :
- Maintain assigned areas in building(s); performing general maintenance duties such as, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and / or vacuuming office space, recreational areas, hallways, stairs, windows, bathrooms, empties trash and garbage containers. Dresses beds with fresh linens.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, neatness, orderliness and safety, which comply with criteria established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and OSHA.
- Notify management concerning the need for minor repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Maintain cleaning product supply room and other areas in neat orderly manner; Submits weekly requisition to replenish inventory of cleaning and bathroom products and supplies; Ensures replenishment of products and supplies in assigned areas bathrooms, closets and kitchens.
- Post signs to advertise wet / slippery floor, hallway or stairwell conditions; or other dangerous conditions.
- Move furniture and / or equipment as required for cleaning purposes. Set-up dining room tables for breakfast, lunch and dinner, wash dishes before and after meals, perform other duties as assigned.
- Secure and dispose of any chemical cleaning products in accordance with OSHA standards. Assist in checking school for safety hazards and report any deficiency.
Knowledge and Skills :
Ascend and descend ladders or stairs, walk, bend, reach, lift and handle objects, travel independently, and use hand tools and equipment specific to the discipline, and occasionally a computer and keyboard.Work requires expression or exchange of ideas and the ability to receive detailed information.Work requires ability to compare, compile, analyze, and coordinate data and information; ability to follow instructions, diagrams or plans; and ability to utilize effective interpersonal skills and behaviors.Occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.Education and / or Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);One to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and print and speak simple sentences.Work Environment :
