Job description

Overview

HealthRIGHT 360 San Mateo Clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center that focuses on providing primary care and addiction treatment. Our target population includes individuals suffering from substance use disorder, mental illness, homelessness, or with a history with the criminal justice system. We provide trauma informed care under a harm reduction philosophy. This is a small practice with 2 to 3 providers and support staff. We work closely with the county that provides case management for many of the clients.

Responsibilities

The Staff Physician – MD / DO acts as a clinical leader by providing quality primary care services and substance use disorder treatment to HealthRIGHT360 (HR360) San Mateo clinic patients in an integrated delivery model. Responsibilities include :

  • Provide full supervision and oversight for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) including entering into Collaborative Agreements, supervision input in performance appraisal, peer review, and hiring / termination decisions.
  • Provide supervision to the healthcare treatment team and supervise the medical assistant functions under the provider’s purview.
  • Provide clinical leadership to improve team functioning and grow the overall practice.
  • Collaborate with mental health staff to integrate primary care and mental health to improve patient outcomes.
  • Clinical Care Responsibilities : Provide comprehensive primary care and addiction treatment within credentialed privileges and standardized procedures, document promptly, follow charting protocols and applicable CA licensing requirements, complete patient sessions in a timely manner, ensure follow-up for referrals and results, respond to patient information requests, and maintain licensure, DEA registration, and BCLS / CPR certification. Participate in continuing medical education as required by California law.

    Leadership / Supervision Responsibilities : Provide clinical leadership and supervision to APPS, support staff, nurses, medical assistants, patient care coordinators, and interns / students. Enter into collaborative agreements with APPS, provide input into performance appraisals, and support hiring / termination decisions. Champion and lead change processes when needed.

    Performance and Quality Improvement Responsibilities : Meet quality indicators per the annual quality improvement plan, maintain an appropriate continuity panel, support continuous quality improvement activities, and act as change champion as requested.

    Organizational Responsibilities : Supervise APPS, support staff, nurses, medical assistants, students, interns, and residents; participate in administrative / clinical duties as requested; represent HealthRIGHT 360 at professional events; complete mandatory trainings annually.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school
  • Possession of a valid California physician license
  • Board certification in primary care and / or addiction
  • BCLS / CPR certification
  • DEA Certificate
  • Minim 2-3 years of practice in community health center or relevant primary care / addiction treatment
  • Experience with EPIC
  • Experience working with diverse populations and issues related to substance use, mental health, and barriers to economic self-sufficiency
  • Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, or other Medicaid-threshold language
  • Background Checks

  • Must complete background check and Livescan
  • Knowledge

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, internet applications)
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, harm reduction, and trauma-informed treatment
  • Covid-19 vaccine and booster required (exemptions not accepted)
