Position SnapshotA Purchasing Manager is commonly expected to direct and coordinate commodities through developing and implementing commodity strategy plans and managing supplier relations. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, planning, and inventory control. Works daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working with risk lowered to As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM so no injuries, illness or negative impact occurs to employees, property, the environment or the community. To be successful in this role you will :

  • Manage storeroom operation to maximize storage space, organizing and eliminating items not required to be inventory.
  • Assist production in providing products needed to perform daily activities.
  • Manage new orders and re-orders of material from inventory.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids to suppliers through RFQ.
  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including requisition, approval, ordering, and payment.
  • Obtain proper order approvals based on policies and procedures
  • Participate in quarterly inventory cycle counts.
  • Develop and implement strategies for R&M budget analysis.
  • Guide and control colleagues across departments to ensure adherence to contractual and process standards.
  • Provide training and support as needed to ensure compliance with established guidelines throughout the organization.

Requirements and Education :

  • A minimum of 3 years’ previous work-related experience is required. The Individual must have above average interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop individuals.  Steel wire manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Professional or technical degree preferred (2-year associate degree).
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
