Commercial Underwriter I

The Commercial Underwriter I is responsible for communicating with the agency force on Commercial Line matters; underwriting commercial new, renewals and endorsement business; re-underwriting existing commercial line business; performing various duties relating to commercial lines; and developing sound agency and industry relations to achieve growth objectives within an assigned territory and agency plant.

Essential Duties :

• Reviews incoming correspondence, applications, and binders, determining if underwriting guidelines and criteria are met
• Approves risks

Communicates with agents regarding all aspects of commercial lines including :

Assists the Underwriting Supervisor as needed, including :

Works to achieve growth objectives through the following :

Contributes to the profitability of the agency plant through the following :

Basic Qualifications :

Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
