Job description

Milton Hershey School (MHS), a prestigious private institution dedicated to providing an exceptional career-focused education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, is seeking dedicated couples to take on the rewarding role of flex houseparents.

As flex houseparents, you will reside in on-campus student homes and guide a close-knit group of approximately 8-12 students. Your role will be instrumental in creating a nurturing and family-like environment, as well as handling essential responsibilities such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, and reporting. Initially, you will cover various student homes before being assigned to a specific home, allowing you to find the best fit for your skills and passion.

Qualifications :

  • Experience working or volunteering with youth, particularly in underserved settings.
  • Must be a legally married couple with a minimum of two years of marriage.
  • Both spouses should be age 27 or older.
  • Maximum of three dependent children can reside in the student home.
  • Commitment to abiding by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty.
  • Only fish and one approved breed dog are allowed as pets.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to receive certification for driving student home vans.
  • Comfortable leading daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services (proselytizing is prohibited).
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to serve as positive role models for students.
  • Each spouse must complete an individual employment application.
