Finance Intern

The Finance Intern at WVU Health System will play a vital role in supporting our finance team's day-to-day operations. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in healthcare finance, accounting, and budgeting within a dynamic and innovative healthcare organization.

Minimum Qualifications :

1. Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Core Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Assist in financial data analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes.

• Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
• Conduct research on industry best practices and financial trends to enhance departmental strategies.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, budget forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Support financial audits by gathering necessary documentation and providing assistance to auditors.
• Participate in meetings and training sessions to expand knowledge of healthcare finance and accounting principles.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Physical Requirements :

1. Extended periods of sitting.

2. Extended periods of computer usage.

Working Environment :

1. Standard, high volume office environment.

Skills and Abilities :

1. Must possess basic computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment and software.

2. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.

3. Must have the ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.

4. Must have the ability to project a positive and professional image to internal and external customers.

5. Must have the ability to exercise initiative and work independently - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
