Job description

MicroTouch is growing and looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Field Application Engineer to support our Android based touch solutions. In this role, you will provide technical assistance and support to our customers, ensuring a seamless and positive experience with our products and services. You will work closely with senior engineers, our sales team, and product managers to troubleshoot issues, provide solutions, and enhance our products and services.

MicroTouch is a leading manufacturer of Android and Windows-based point-of-sale and kiosk solutions used by some of the largest brands in the U.S. and EU. We design, engineer, and support a wide portfolio of interactive products — from kiosks and digital signage to retail POS terminals — with a focus on reliability, serviceability, and fleet management.

Some of your daily duties as a Field Application Engineer will include but are not limited to :

  • Act as the technical liaison between our engineering and customer / partner teams
  • Provide pre-sales support, technical demos, proof of concept, etc.
  • Assist with the development and rollout of new software products and services, including OTA and SaaS solutions
  • Validate and configure firmware and OS builds for customer projects
  • Guide customers through device provisioning, MDM enrollment, and OTA update management
  • Support SDK / API integrations for peripherals (scanners, printers, NFC, payment devices, etc.)
  • Collaborate with engineering teams using Android Studio and related tools to reproduce, debug, and validate issues in the field
  • Assist customers and ISVs with SDK / API integration by reviewing sample code, running demos, and providing basic troubleshooting guidance
  • Create technical documentation such as quick-start guides, integration notes, and FAQs.
  • Deliver training sessions for customers and internal teams
  • Provide tier-2 / 3 escalation support, diagnosing complex field issues and feeding back to engineering
  • Attend trade shows, pilots, and on-site deployments as a technical subject matter expert (30–50% travel)
  • Capture customer feedback to influence product roadmaps and feature development

Our Ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience :

  • Strong understanding of Android operating systems and mobile application development although this is not a full-time development role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3+ years in a customer-facing technical role
  • Understanding of ADB interface
  • Direct software development is not required, but the ability to understand and modify code is needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including C-level customer staff
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
