Founded in 1971 and situated in the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area the College of Southern Nevada is the most ethnically diverse college in Nevada and the first to receive the HSI designation.     The duties of this position include but are not limited to :

  • Teach 15 credits of English per semester and keep a minimum of 5 office hours.
  • Develop syllabus and course materials; evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies as required by the learning outcomes.
  • Participate in student advisement recruitment activities assessment of student learning outcomes and program / curriculum development.
  • Participate in a minimum of 5 hours per week of service consisting of school or department meetings activities and / or committees as well as other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Englishfrom a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience teaching at the community college level.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce and / or student body.
  • Experience working with student events marketing and / or recruitment.
  • Experience in social media and websites management.
  • Experience with AI large language models and how they impact the field.
  • Starting Salary Information

    Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example for an instructor with a Masters degree the salary range would be $58046 to $74304 annually. The entire salary range is up to $89166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for the initial salary placement purposes.

  • This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
  • Bargaining unit Faculty members hired are eligible for relocation expenses reimbursement in accordance with the College of Southern Nevada NFA Contract 2022-2025 .
