We are committed to assisting, advocating for and supporting families through the Judicial process by assessing, supervising, and connecting to ongoing services in order to provide an alternative to detention which will ultimately reduce recidivism and long-term involvement in the juvenile justice system. Trestle Programs, Inc. operates programs in 8 of the 23 Judicial Districts throughout Colorado. Were looking for the right candidate to join our team in the 1st JD in Lakewood, CO.

GENERAL PURPOSE :

This position plays a vital role in supporting youth and community safety by overseeing the detention beds allocated to the 1st Judicial District. It combines purposeful case management work with a flexible hybrid schedule - team members collaborate in-office while having the opportunity to work remotely after a six-month probationary period or with supervisor approval.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED :

Works under the direct supervision of the Program Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES : Detention Hearings

  • Liaison between the Courts and the detention center.
  • Managing detention dockets (sending affidavits and other correspondence in preparation for detention hearings)
  • Arranging transport for detained youth to and from court
  • Write detention reports for hearings (Court, District Attorney, Public Defender, Human Services, Probation)
  • Ensure appropriate parties are informed of the youths detention and future court dates (parents, guardians, GALs, attorneys, case workers, probation, diversion, etc.)
  • Attend all detention hearings
  • Recording and relaying bond information to Rocky Mountain Youth Services Center (RMYSC)
  • Case Management

  • Make referrals for other services and supervision if youth are not already on supervision.
  • For detained youth, manage the progress of court hearings, make referrals for any evaluations / orders, and communicate with MVDC.
  • Assist in determining whether a juvenile is eligible for release based on court orders.
  • Responsible for arranging transportation for youth in detention to medical appointments, placement providers, or to other counties.
  • Responsible for facilitating any court orders or evaluations for detained youth until the youth is either released from RMYSC or committed to the department of youth corrections.
  • This position can be responsible for case management of up to 18 detained youth.
  • Other Duties

  • Coordinating with the juvenile interstate compact contact to facilitate the juvenile's return to the demanding state or county.
  • Responsible for setting up courtesy hearings for other counties or states if they are unable to retrieve the youth in the allowed time frame.
  • Assists in retrieving youth detained in other states or counties on Jefferson County warrants back to Jefferson County by coordinating with the Jefferson Counties Sheriffs Office.
  • Responsible for relaying bond paperwork to the juvenile clerk
  • Responsible for entering data on youth who are detained at Rocky Mountain Youth Services Center in TRAILS and spreadsheets.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Daily Capacity Roster and relaying to the appropriate agencies daily (District Attorney, Public Defender, Diversion, Rocky Mountain Youth Services Center, Probation, DHS)
  • Oversee Emergency Release Process and Utilization of State Emergency Beds when RMYSC is at capacity during normal business hours.
  • Borrowing and lending detention beds to other districts
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support program goals, organizational needs, and the success of the team
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology or other closely related field.
  • At least one years experience working in the criminal justice system.

  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)
  • Masters degree in criminal justice or closely related field
  • Experience working with youth and the juvenile justice system
  • Experience with the TRAILS database
  • Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to pass criminal background check- including CBI, FBI, and TRAILS
