About The Position

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC (if working in ER)

Must-Have :

Confident in skills such as assessments, infusion pumps, and medication administration.

Strong social skills and teamwork abilities.

Reliability is essential.

Description : Unit houses 20 beds.

Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 5.

Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC for ER nurses.

Common diagnoses include falls, CHF, bowel obstruction, A-fib, and Swingbed.

Experience in direct patient care is critical.

RNs are required to titrate drips such as Insulin, Heparin, and Levophed, as well as manage set-rate drips like Amiodarone.

RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips, using Mindray Monitors.

Charge nurse is present 24 / 7 without taking a patient assignment, covering ER as needed.

Nurse aids (CNAs and PCTs) assist by checking vital signs and documenting intake and output as well as activities of daily living.

Respiratory equipment managed on the unit includes a Hamilton C1 ventilator with CPAP and BiPAP, but ventilated patients are not kept.

Schedules typically offer block scheduling based on staffing needs, with shifts outlined 6 weeks in advance.

Weekend work is required every 3rd weekend or more if desired.

Flexibility to float to assist in the ER is appreciated.

Scrubs are provided without color specification.

Collaboration and a family-like environment are emphasized on the unit.

Experience in critical access facilities is valued.

Communication is best through email.

Facility allows for cancellation of up to 4 shifts for 13-week assignments.

Charting system used is Meditech.
