Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field
- ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification
- Nevada General Supervisor Lab license
- 3-7 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in computer applications and laboratory information systems
Responsibilities1. Laboratory Testing and Analysis
Perform a wide range of complex laboratory tests and procedures in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and serologyAnalyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and reliabilityOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot sophisticated laboratory equipment and instrumentsConduct quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing programsIdentify and report critical values and abnormal results to appropriate healthcare providersMaintain detailed and accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained2. Quality Assurance and Compliance
Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocolsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CLIA standardsParticipate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processesAssist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures and methodologiesContribute to the maintenance of laboratory certifications and licenses3. Specimen Management
Collect, process, and analyze various types of biological specimensEnsure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens and hazardous materialsMaintain chain of custody for forensic and legal specimensEvaluate specimen quality and reject unsuitable samples when necessary4. Data Management and Reporting
Enter test results and patient information into laboratory information systemsGenerate and review laboratory reports for accuracy and completenessMaintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulationsAssist in the compilation and analysis of laboratory statistics and performance metrics5. Collaboration and Communication
Interact professionally with healthcare providers, patients, and other laboratory staffProvide technical expertise and consultation to physicians and other healthcare professionalsParticipate in interdepartmental meetings and committees as requiredCommunicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding workflow issues, equipment malfunctions, or other concerns
