Lead Analog / Mixed‑Signal Design Engineer, Instrumentation
Imagine your circuitry powering discoveries. At LECO—an industry leader in laboratory instruments for over 80 years—you’ll help craft the electronics that scientists rely on worldwide. We’re a family‑owned team in St. Joseph, Michigan, built on trust, loyalty, and long‑range thinking.
On‑Site Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 a.m.–5 : 00 p.m.
The challenge
A new instrument demands ultra‑stable measurement electronics, responsive thermal control, and robust AC power handling. You’ll architect and deliver the sub‑assemblies that make it possible—working independently yet shoulder‑to‑shoulder with cross‑functional partners.
Your mission
- Own advanced electrical component and sub‑assembly design with minimal supervision
- Research, prototype, test, and iterate to achieve performance targets
- Dig into production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes
- Produce clear schematics, BOMs, specifications, and maintain an engineering logbook
- Assemble documentation for design reviews and maintain a complete design history
- Collaborate across disciplines, weighing system‑level impacts and tradeoffs
- Scout and evaluate emerging technologies to advance innovation
- Lead specialty design efforts with a high degree of technical autonomy
