Overview

Job Title : IT Infrastructure Technology Engineer

Location : San Pedro, CA

Employment type : Full-time (Perm / FTE)

Work arrangement : This position is based in San Pedro, CA and 100% onsite.

Base pay range (for reference) : $170,000.00 / yr - $180,000.00 / yr

Summary of job : This role manages operational availability of Technology Infrastructure network, Technology Infrastructure systems, and technology service vendors, and provides hands-on IT infrastructure management and support.

Responsibilities

  • The hands-on IT Infrastructure Technology Engineer manages operational availability of Technology Infrastructure network, Technology Infrastructure systems, and technology Service vendors.
  • Manage, implement, and operate IT infrastructure in a multi-national company setting; able to work hands-on with industrial infrastructure networks in large enterprises, virtualization, compute systems, and technology solutions from Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto Meraki and other global providers.
  • Provide on-call L2 support, mentor local IT team members and collaborate with cross-functional departments and external vendors / MSPs to resolve issues and drive business objectives.
  • Manage IT Infrastructure Network & Systems, including people management, scheduling, development, evaluation, and local team leadership.
  • Configure and manage industrial network components, virtualization, monitoring, management systems, wireless and endpoint configuration, design and management.
  • Evaluate requirements for new infrastructure technologies, services, or components; address reliability, security, performance, and best practices.
  • Own knowledge of inter-system protocols (SQL connections, RPC, Web Services) and guide troubleshooting and issue isolation.
  • Lead large- and medium-scale projects with strong communication, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Plan maintenance, OS patching, upgrades, and automated configuration changes to minimize downtime.
  • Mentor team members on procedures and SOPs; act as escalation point for complex issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineers, Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and IT vendors to ensure smooth IT infrastructure operations.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree and certification in Project Management, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of technology infrastructure management experience with people management and project management capabilities.
  • Competence in Infrastructure Systems (VMware technologies : vCenter, vSphere; Windows technologies; ADFS; Group Policy).
  • Strong experience in Infrastructure Network concepts (switching, VLAN, spanning tree), SD-Wan concepts and capabilities.
  • WAN and Firewall concepts and architectures; IPS and remote access methods.
  • Cybersecurity practices and technologies; experience with third-party security providers.
  • Experience configuring and managing network security solutions including Palo Alto, Cisco, Meraki, Zscaler and Fortinet.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills; ability to balance business needs and cost containment.
  • Effective communication, especially under pressure.
  • Cisco or equivalent certifications; CCNP or Fortinet Certified Professional preferred.
  • Client-focused, methodical troubleshooting approach.

    A reasonable, good faith estimate of the base salary for this position is $170,000 to $180,000 per year.
