Primary Purpose

Provides high quality clinical services to children with behavior disorders related to autism.

Essential Job Functions

  • Under direct supervision of a BCBA and working closely with Autism Support Staff, provides the following clinical services to children at the Baudhuin Preschool.
  • Provides assistance in functional behavioral assessments which includes interviews, behavioral observations, and data collection.
  • Assists in preference assessment using both indirect and direct methodologies.
  • Assists in providing direct observations and data collection to monitor behavior plan effectiveness.
  • Contributes to the development of function-based interventions to increase pro-social alternative behavior and reduce problem behavior in collaboration with the team.
  • Provides assistance in training parents, teachers, teacher aides, and support staff in implementing treatment protocols.
  • Implements individual behavior support plans.
  • Models strategies in the classroom, as well as in other educational settings (e.g., gym, playground, therapy room) whenever needed.
  • Maintains all data and records in accordance with NSU compliance policies.
  • Regularly attends child study meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; data entry skills; Internet research abilities.
  • Ability to enter and verify information with accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Proactive, punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
  • Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Endure short, intermittent, and / or prolonged periods of sitting and / or standing in performance of job duties.
  • Ability to effectively manage children who present with aggressive and self-injurious behavior.
  • Certifications / Licenses

    Required Certifications / Licensures : Must receive Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within three (3) months of hire date.

    Education

    Required Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent

    Experience

    Required Experience : High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years clinical experience working with children with behavioral challenges.

    OR

    Associate's degree or more than 60 completed credit hours in Psychology or ESE Discipline, and one (1) year clinical experience working with children with behavioral challenges.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or more than 60 completed credit hours in Psychology or ESE Discipline, and one (1) year clinical experience working with children with behavioral challenges.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • PCM certification - Practitioner Level I
