The Admissions Closer is a high-level admissions professional responsible for guiding prospective clients and families through the final stages of the admissions process for residential, PHP, and IOP levels of care. This role requires exceptional communication, sales, and clinical awareness skills to ensure smooth transitions from inquiry to admission. The Admissions Closer serves as a liaison between prospective clients, clinical teams, and external referral sources to ensure admissions targets are met and patients receive timely and appropriate care placement.
This role is highly performance-driven, with eligibility for a bonus structure based on admissions conversions and revenue performance metrics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage inbound and outbound admissions inquiries, guiding clients and families through the decision-making process.
- Conduct detailed pre-screening and clinical assessments to ensure appropriate level of care placement.
- Communicate the facility’s programs, services, and treatment philosophy with professionalism and empathy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with referral partners, clinicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers to maximize admissions opportunities.
- Coordinate with clinical, medical, and operations teams to ensure smooth and timely admissions transitions.
- Follow up on pending inquiries and leads, converting qualified prospects into active admissions.
- Review insurance verification, benefits, and authorizations with the admissions and billing teams.
- Accurately document all interactions, assessments, and admissions data in the EMR system.
- Meet and exceed defined admissions goals, conversion targets, and KPI metrics.
- Provide timely reporting on admissions activity, conversion rates, and referral trends.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, state, and federal regulations throughout the admissions process.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, psychology, business, or related field preferred.Minimum 10-15 years of experience in admissions, business development, or clinical intake within the behavioral health or substance abuse treatment field.Proven success in sales or closing roles in healthcare, particularly in high-acuity treatment environments.Strong communication, motivational interviewing, and relationship management skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet performance goals in a fast-paced environment.Excellent documentation, time management, and follow-up skills.Knowledge of behavioral health levels of care (detox, residential, PHP, IOP) required.Licensing / Certifications
No professional license required; however, certifications such as CADC, CAC, or behavioral health admissions certification are highly desirable.CPR / First Aid certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire).
