About The Position

Job Title : ICU Registered Nurse

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (must obtain prior to arrival)

Must-Have : Epic experience

Description :

This is a mixed ICU unit with diverse patient types.

The unit includes complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma.

Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, COVID, s / p cardiac cath, and post-surgical cases.

Cardiac experience is preferred, especially with CABG / TAVR 24 to 48 hours post-op.

Fresh open heart cases will not be accepted unless the nurse is experienced and the unit feels comfortable.

Patient ratios are typically 1 : 1, with rarer ratios of 1 : 2 or 1 : 3, depending on acuity.

Required skills include experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, and ventilator management.

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills are essential.

The nurse should work well in a fast-paced environment with critical patients.

Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred.

The unit staff includes 1-2 nurse aides per unit, a charge nurse, and a resource nurse, staffing-dependent.

Physicians include intensivists and advanced practice providers.

Charting is done through an electronic system, which is required for this position.

Orientation includes both hospital and unit-specific training.

Weekend rotation may be required every other weekend, but it is not guaranteed.

No time off is permitted during holidays or specific events.

Approval for time off is allowed up to 7 days, which must extend to accommodate a full contract duration.

Scrub color is navy.
