Description :
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
The RN provides care to patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources.
The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
The RN completes an initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
The RN modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and / or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
The RN communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues.
The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
The RN confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base.
The RN identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
The RN assesses IV sites every 4 hours and starts new IVs as per policy.
The RN maintains documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits.
The RN must attend 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year.
The RN identifies changes in patient status and responds appropriately.
