Job Title : Camp Counselor
Reports To : Camp Manager
Seeking Full and Part Time Employment
- Must be able to work opening (6 : 00 AM-1 : 00 PM) or closing (1 : 00 PM- 8 : 00 PM) shifts. Minimum 20 hours / week. Must be able to work 3 shifts / week, including at least 1 weekend and 1 weekday shift.
General Objective : Supervising and ensuring the safety of customers’ dogs.
Essential Functions :
Evaluate dog behavior, reactions, and interaction with other dogs to complete the initial dog screening evaluations also called “interviews”Monitor dog behaviorMaintain continuous focus and attention on dog interactions to prevent fights / altercations and injuriesObserve and learn dog behavior and signs of aggression in order to appropriately assign dogs to the proper play yardsPerform dog health evaluations throughout dayClean play yards, cabins, and all common spaces : mopping, sweeping, and scrubbingClean up after the dogs including poop scooping and pee moppingPerform janitorial duties : restocking supplies, taking out trash and basic kennel maintenancePerform dog washes and other basic grooming tasksReport to Leads and Managers of any problemsEnsure campers are happy and healthyEngage campers in play and divide attention among all campersPerforming great customer service to clientsProviding water and room service to every dog's cabin dailyFoam, mop, sweep, and scrub play areas, cabins, and aisles that are cleaned dailyEscort dogs to / from cabins, yards, lobby appropriatelyAttend additional training as management deems necessaryProvide excellent customer service, treating both clients and campers with respectCamp motto : Happy Healthy Pets, Happy Healthy peopleRequirements / Expectations :
Must love dogs (of all breeds and sizes)No previous dog experience necessary but is helpful and preferredCounselors spend almost all day on their feet. This position is a physically-intensive job requiring lifting, bending, carrying and repetitive motions, cleaning (scrubbing walls, fences, cabins, etc.)Must be able to physically handle all sizes of the dogs we take at Camp Bow WowMust have a high tolerance for barking and excessive noisePeriodic exposure to jumping dogs and dog altercationsMust have a high tolerance for dog hair, dander, smellHigh school experience or equivalentReliable transportationIf you love dogs and have always wanted to work with them, then this is the perfect job for you!
