Position Summary :
Responsible for preparing, serving, and handling food in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as residence policies and procedures. Ensures dining service areas are kept clean and sanitized, while also assisting with the receiving, rotation, and proper storage of food and supplies.
Food & Inventory Management
Identify and report food and supply needs to support upcoming menus.
Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies to ensure freshness and compliance with standards.
Food Preparation & Dining Service
Prepare menus and cook meals in alignment with nutritional guidelines, regulations, and residents’ prescribed diets and preferences.
Present food in an appealing and appetizing manner.
Support residents’ independence during meals, providing adaptive equipment as needed.
Deliver meals promptly and courteously, ensuring a positive dining experience.
Engage with residents during meals to promote satisfaction and quality service.
Assist in planning and coordinating food service for special events.
Encourage resident participation and feedback in the dining program.
Report any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances to the Food Service Director.
Regulatory Compliance & Sanitation
Adhere to HACCP guidelines, local health regulations, and residence policies.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
Follow infection control standards for food handling and storage.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand / walk up to 8 hours and sit up to 2 hours per shift.
Frequently lift / carry up to 50 lbs. and support up to 30 lbs.
Regularly kneel, bend, and reach.
Use proper body mechanics and safety measures at all times.
Knowledge Requirements
State food-handling and kitchen regulations.
OSHA standards.
Fire and safety procedures.
Operation and care of kitchen appliances.
Qualifications
Experience in cooking for large groups
Desire to work with older adults
Certificate in food-preparation training preferred
