American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position in Maine requiring a ME or compact RN license and proficiency with diverse adult patient populations.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Med / Surg unit of a hospital settingCare for adult patients with cases including total joints, general medical-surgical, appendicitis, bowel surgeries, urology, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, diabetes, and addiction comorbiditiesRN patient ratio is 1 : 6-7 on night shiftsShift schedule is 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, 12-hour nights, 36 hours per weekRequired to work every other weekend and two holidays per contractFloating may be required to ICU for Med / Surg level patients and to the ED to assistUses Cerner charting system; experience preferred but not requiredGeneral hospital orientation provided plus one shift of unit orientationNo on-call dutiesDaily responsibilities include caring for a diverse Med / Surg patient population and assisting with a wide range of clinical tasksUnit has support from 24 / 7 respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and telemonitoring techCharge nurse generally takes a patient assignmentThe rapid response team is comprised of multiple in-house roles including provider, ICU, ED, and Med / Surg staffProfessional dress required in any color scrubsFree parking is available on siteFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyManager approval required for time off requests\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or Compact RN license requiredMinimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience requiredBLS certification required; ACLS certification preferredMust be willing to train and work as Charge RN if neededExperience with chest tubes, trachs, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, IV antibiotics, heparin drips desirableAbility to attempt IV insertions before seeking assistance from specialized staffMust not have worked as a permanent staff member at any Northern Light Health facilityMust reside over 100 miles south or southwest of Bangor, Maine for eligibilityFlu vaccination required; only medical exemptions are considered\n Benefits\n
