The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is offering a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Training Program, and we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our team.

Program Details :

• 35-day training program
• Combination of classroom and hands-on clinical training
• Participants will be hired as paid temporary employees during the program

Those who successfully complete the course and pass both the written and clinical exams will be eligible to apply for LNA positions on the evening shift at VVH. This position is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against him or her is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans' Home licensing requirements. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable.

Duties are performed in a long-term care and residential care setting. Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift. Requires standing for long periods of time, walking for extended periods and distances, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Duties require regular and direct interaction with residents with varying degrees of physical and mental illness, dementia, infectious diseases, severe physical and mental limitations, and residents who may display unpredictable behavior. Incumbents predictably encounter high levels of stress and emotional situations, exposure to potentially physically and verbally violent patient populations and exposure to infectious disease.

No specific education or experience required.

Child Labor Laws strictly prohibit a person under the age of eighteen (18) from work involving the operation of power-driven hoisting apparatus. This prohibition includes apprentices and student-learners. Therefore, participants in the LNA Training Program are required to be at least eighteen (18) years of age on the day the program begins.
