Building Inspector / Reviewer

Summary :  This is a  highly skilled supervisory and technical position  focused on reviewing, analyzing, and approving or rejecting building construction plans for compliance with the  Florida Building Code ,  Miami-Dade County Code , and related laws and regulations. The role involves both  office-based plans examination  and  field inspections , as well as potential supervision of Building Inspectors and acting as Chief Inspector in their absence.

Key Responsibilities :

• Review and analyze construction documents including :
• Blueprints, tracings, sketches, and permit applications
• Structural and architectural plans for new buildings, remodels, and repairs
• Approve or disapprove plans based on code compliance; advise stakeholders on necessary revisions.
• Conduct field inspections for new construction, renovations, and condemned properties to ensure permit possession and code compliance.
• Supervise and assist inspectors; review reports and assign inspections as needed.
• Enforce local and state codes, including FEMA regulations and roofing protocols.
• Interpret complex building codes and ordinances; provide guidance to contractors, engineers, architects, and the general public.
• Respond to walk-in and drop-off plan inquiries and assist with code interpretation and procedural questions.
• Maintain thorough and accurate records of plan reviews, inspections, and enforcement actions.
• May function as the  Chief Inspector  when designated by leadership.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
