Job description

Plant Asset Reliability Supervisor (Sulfuric Acid & Regen)

Location : Richmond, CA

Schedule : Monday–Friday

Reports to : Maintenance Manager

Compensation : $120,000 – $130,000 + bonus + benefits. (salaried, exempt)

A day in the life

Start your morning reviewing the maintenance backlog and aligning your crew’s priorities with operations. You’ll set the daily plan in the Computerized Maintenance Management System, confirm materials are on hand, and brief technicians and contractors on job safety analyses before work begins. When an unexpected issue emerges—a pump vibration, a valve leak, or a turbine performance dip—you lead rapid troubleshooting, convene the right voices, and drive to root cause and corrective action.

Midday may find you walking down the sulfuric acid and regeneration units, validating preventive maintenance completion and quality, checking on rotating equipment, and verifying compliance with Chemtrade’s Responsible Care standards. You’ll mentor technicians, align training plans, and ensure the team has what they need—from bearings and filters to pipe, valves, and fittings—to execute safely and efficiently. As the day closes, you update KPIs, prepare for upcoming outages, and review budget and schedule risks.

What you’ll own

  • Build and manage the daily maintenance schedule; coordinate emergent work with Operations.
  • Use the CMMS to assign, track, and close work orders; maintain PM inspection compliance.
  • Lead troubleshooting of process and equipment issues (pumps, motors, piping, valves, turbines, heat exchangers).
  • Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors; support safe capital project execution.
  • Manage inventory for mechanical, instrumentation, welding, rotating equipment, and consumables.
  • Champion safety : incident reporting, investigations, root-cause analysis, and action item closure.
  • Develop JSAs and reinforce EHS standards consistent with Responsible Care.
  • Maintain current knowledge of company policies, plant procedures, permits, and regulations.
  • Own outage preparation, budgets, schedules, performance metrics, and post-job critiques.
  • Guide training and upskilling so technicians have the competencies to perform effectively.

What you bring

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of maintenance experience.
  • Hands-on familiarity with equipment in chemical, refining, power, or pulp & paper environments.
  • 3+ years leading hourly maintenance teams.
  • Proven track record with industrial safety programs.
  • Experience using a CMMS; PC proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with SAP (purchasing and plant maintenance modules) is a plus.
  • Medical requirement

Chemtrade is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the public. All employees are required to complete and pass their annually held medical assessments, including but not limited to the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and the ability to wear a respirator as a condition of employment
